I have been an international travel photographer for the last 35 years
and throughout all this time I have carried my love of the natural world
to over 120 countries. Wherever and when-ever possible I have visited
the local nature reserves or just observed the indigenous wild life.
I have been privileged to visit many wonderful places, many before the
ever increasing development of tourist resorts changed the areas
beyond recognition; sadly, not always for the better.
Just over four years ago my wife suggested that I take up watercolour
painting as I was about to retire from accepting commissioned photographic work
for the Travel Industry. I still do stock shoots for my London agent, World Pictures, who hold and market
over 20,000 of my photographs.
I soon found that I loved painting highly detailed pictures of birds.
Ever since my childhood that was spent on the North Downs of East Kent in the
UK, I have been a keen bird watcher; but not a twitcher.
Even during my first year of painting, various people asked if they
could buy some of my paintings. I was both surprised and flattered. I have now
had two successful exhibitions and have sold many originals. From many of my
paintings I produce notelets, cards and prints; these are for sale also.
I am only sorry that the medium of the internet does not really do
justice to the finer detail of the pictures, in the name of speed. Many of the
pictures
took up to seven weeks to complete and even the smaller ones took five
or six days.
I hope you enjoy looking at my paintings as much as I enjoyed painting
them.
